Black Mask was a pulp magazine first published in 1920 by H L Mencken and George J Nathan. Various editors ran the magazine over the years and Philip C Cody was in charge when the content became more sensationalist. Stories were more intricately plotted and strewn with more blood, guts, gore and sex.
