Black Mask was a pulp magazine first published in 1920 by H L Mencken & George J Nathan. Various editors ran the magazine over the years & Philip C Cody was in charge when the content became more sensationalist. Stories were more intricately plotted & strewn with more blood, guts, gore & sex. Stories published by some big names include Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, Erle Stanley Gardner & George Harmon Coxe..
The magazine ceased EDIT Production in the 1950's but is regarded as one of the best of the pulp's ever to be produced.
