ABOUT THE MAGAZINE
Tales of Wonder was a British science fiction magazine published from 1937 to 1942 with Walter Gillings as editor. Published by The Worlds Works, a subsiduary of William Heinemann, as part of a series of genre titles. Gillings was able to attract some good material despite the low payment rates he was able to offer. Arthur C Clarke made his first sale to Tales of Wonder with 2 science articles and also published William F Temples first story, early material by John Wyndham and Eric Frank Russelll. American Murray Leinster and Jack Williamson also appeared. The second world war and Gillings call up to the army caused issues continuing with the magazine and it finished with the 16th edition in Spring 1942.
