ABOUT THE MAGAZINE
Tales of Wonder was a British science fiction magazine published from 1937 to 1942 with Walter Gillings as editor. Published by The Worlds Works, a subsiduary of William Heinemann, as part of a series of genre titles. Gillings was able to attract some good material despite the low payment rates he was able to offer. Arthur C Clarke made his first sale to Tales of Wonder with 2 science articles & also published William F Temples first story, early material by John Wyndham & Eric Frank Russelll. American Murray Leinster and Jack Williamson also appeared. The second world war & Gillings call up to the army caused issues continuing with the magazine & it finished with the 16th edition in Spring 1942.
